Fundraising Instructions

How can I raise money for my sponsored silence? 

There are two ways to raise money for Stop Our Silence

   1.  In person/with a paper form

This is the traditional option!

First of all, download our paper form: SOS Sponsorship Form 2015 . Print off the form, fill in your details and you are all set to start fundraising.

Ask your friends, family and (if applicable) colleagues to give you a few pounds for your 24-hour silence.  Remember to mark down on the form whether you have already collected your sponsorship money so you can keep track.

Once you’ve collected your money and completed your silence, you need to get the money to Gendered Intelligence. There’s more information about that at the bottom of this page.

If you are under 18, we ask you to fundraise using a paper form due to age restriction on a PayPal account for JustGiving. 

    2.   Setup your own crowdfunding page on JustGiving

JustGiving is a crowfunding site where individuals can raise money for a good cause or person of their choice. There are some rules:

• You have to set a fundraising target
• You have 30 days to reach your target
• JustGiving will take a 5% fee on pledges and card charges of 1.3% or 16p per pledge.
• You need to set up a  PayPal account

If you go for this option, you can send the link to your JustGiving page via email to your friends and family. You can share it on Facebook and Twitter if you have an account. Gendered Intelligence will also promote your page to encourage our supporters to sponsor you.

To help you set up your page, we can send you a Stop Our Silence logo. You will be free to write your own reasons for talking part and put up your own picture.

Try to set your sponsorship target to an amount that you can realistically raise in 30 days. However, if you do not reach your target, you will still receive the funds that you raise.

Money that you raise will be paid directly to you via PayPal. Please see instructions below for getting the money to Gendered Intelligence.

How to get your sponsorship money to Gendered Intelligence

Once you have collected your sponsorship money and completed your silence, please fill out this form to let us know how you will be getting the money to us.

There are three ways to get your money to us:

• In person, for example at a youth group
• By cheque
• By bank transfer

Once you have indicated your preferred method, we will send you more information.
